Playa Linda Beach Resort Review
Sunday, November 30th, 2008Picturesque Playa Linda Beach Resort timeshare is set on a snow-white stretch of beach, with lovely gardens, a tropical lobby, and outstanding on-site facilities. This fun-in-the-sun resort offers restaurants, bars, a shopping arcade, health club, whirlpools, tennis courts, ongoing activities, and warm Aruban hospitality. All suites are fully appointed vacation homes with spacious terraces overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Casinos, shopping, dining areas, and nightspots are nearby.
I would recommend this resort to anyone…couples, and families alike. It is on what is my opinion the best beach in Aruba, between the Hyatt and the Holiday Inn. The Marriott is next door to the Holiday Inn. If you are a beach person, this is the place for you. The grounds are lush, tropical, and very beautiful. We stayed in a one bedroom which faced the pool and ocean. It was a beautiful view. The even numbered rooms in this building have the same view, whereas I believe the odd numbered rooms have a view of the Holiday Inn and beach views.
The balconies are complete with table and chairs, a daybed and pull-out couch in the living room, a dining room table for four, with a 5th chair that matched in the unit, and a Queen size bed in the bedroom. There were closets and dresser drawers in both the bedroom and living room. There was an electronic safe in the closet in the living room. Both the bedroom and living room contained TV’s. Although the one-bedrooms sleep five, this would be a tight fit if there were five adults in the unit. Two adults and 3 children would be fine.
The one-bedroom timeshare was of average size. The bathroom was of average size and some amenities like soap were provided in it. The timeshare unit in general was well maintained and very bright. In addition, I should mention that there was an iron and ironing board, blender, coffee maker, and the usual items in the unit.
With respect to the thatched huts, most are taken early. They also had a two for one happy hour every day from 1-2, and 3-5 at the beach bar. As for the pool, they had a small children’s pool, and a nice sized pool for everyone else complete with a beautiful waterfall.
There were planned activities for children throughout the day. The timeshare resort maintains a schedule of activities each day including water aerobics and bingo.
The resort has several stores on the premises including a mini-market, Subway sandwich shop, and a TCBY/ ice cream store. There are two bus stops a block or two in either direction from the resort. The resort also has a computer terminal on site.
For those of you who gamble, the casinos in Aruba were basically all single room facilities which had about 8 table games and the usual craps and roulette tables with the exception of the Crystal Casino downtown. This casino is larger than the others, including the Marriott and the Hyatt. All casinos thankfully have $5 black-jack tables every night and day including the weekends. Not much by way of entertainment in the casinos at night.
