This is tropical Florida at its best. The Hammocks at Marathon offers timeshare resales in a choice of studio, one- or two-bedroom villa accommodations, a spacious swimming pool and a tiki hut overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. After a workout at the fitness center, an on-site marina puts a panorama of water sports at your doorstep.
The resort grounds are lush and green and well maintained. There is ample seating and sun beds around the pool. There is a whirlpool and a couple of gas powered barbecues and a Tiki bar serving drinks, beer and wine and food. The Tiki bar food is very good. There are couple of jetties right bedside the resort for boat hire etc. There was an activities program available.
Resort furniture is of good quality. There is a TV and DVD player in the lounge and another TV in the bedroom. The TVs have millions of channels. The TVs are both in cabinets with lots of drawer space underneath.
The kitchen area is adequate with built in dining table/breakfast bar. There are all the usual appliances including a large ice making fridge and a dishwasher. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery.
The bathroom is bright and spacious with a shower over the bath. It has all the other usual stuff too! There were two queen-sized beds in the bedroom as well as the TV and a small table and a couple of chairs.
Towels and trash are attended to each day by very helpful housekeeping staff. Pool towels are available from reception. Reception is manned 24 hours a day. They sell snacks and sweets, toiletries and souvenirs. Coffee is available free of charge at reception in the morning until 11.00. There is a PC for internet access. This is free of charge too but the service is limited to internet only.
Check in and check out is a breeze. There are no unexpected charges. All the staff are very warm, very friendly and very helpful in every way. Nothing is too much trouble and good service is provided very quickly when requested. The sales staff are helpful and very definitely not pushy in any way.
The main activities in Marathon are water based. There are jetties everywhere. An every jetty has at least one fishing charter boat. The two jetties at Hammocks had about 4 different fishing charter hire and there are literally dozens more within 5 minutes walk of the resort.
